What “Whānau” Means to Us
“Whānau” Means family in Te Reo Māori, but to us it means even more, belonging, trust, connection. and walking alongside one another through life’s challenges and achievements.
Whānau way was created from lived experience, compassion, and a deep belief that people living with disability deserve better than “just a service.”
From a young age, I was surrounded by people living with disability and complex health conditions, including family members with muscular dystrophy, intellectual disabilities, and autism. Those experiences shaped my understanding of patience, dignity, advocacy, and the importance of genuine care.
